Ömer Demirel was born in
1960 in Etlik, Ankara.
He completed his primary
and secondary education
in Ankara. He graduated
from Hacettepe University
-Faculty of Letters-History
Department in 1983. In
the same year, he
started to work as
a research assistant in
History Department of
Cumhuriyet University.
In 1992, Demirel
completed his postgraduate
degree in Hacettepe
University, then, got
through with doctorate
programme in the Faculty of
Letters of Ankara University’s. His doctorate
profession is Modern
History. He was
appointed as an Assistant
Professor to Faculty of
Science and Letters,
History Department of Cumhuriyet
University. He
became an Associate
Professor in January in
2001 and became a
Professor in 2006. In
1993, Demirel became the
head of Modern History
Department and he was
also a representative
Professor in Faculty
Commission and Faculty
Management Commission.
There are 4 books and
about 30 essays as to
Ottoman Country Life and
Economics History of him.
Additionally, he has a
book about Sivas
Province Parliament
Judicatums to be printed
by Sivas governorship.
His books published
within the Ministry of
Culture and Turkish
Historical Society
publications were
prepared on the basis
of the rich archival
sources. Both of the
books have been
advertised in scientific
journals and used as
sources for many works.
Since 2008, he has been
the dean of Economics and
Administrative, Sciences
Faculty,
Interuniversitary
Committee Representative,
and the vice Rector
at Tunceli University.
