Prof. Dr. Ali Batu was
born in Antalya in 1961. He went to
primary school in a village called
Çavdır in Antalya. After suspending his
educational affairs for a while he
restarted it in 1976. He graduated form
Atatürk Highschool in İzmir in 1982. He
entered the department of Agricultural
Products and Technologies at Ege
University in 1982 and graduated in
1987. He worked for TUKAŞ Sauced and
Canned Food Inc. for six months as a
technician responsible for quality
management in Turgutlu in 1987. He was
appointed as a research assistant to the
Department of Food Science and
Technology at Cumhuriyet University in
Tokat. He finished his M.Sc studies at
Ege University. He got back to work at
Cumhuriyet University in 1990. In 1991
he got a state scholarship for a Phd
Degree at Cranfield University in
England. He received the Phd in 1995 and
returned to Turkey to his former
position at Gazi Osman Paşa University,
the Faculty of Agriculture. He was
appointed as an assistant professor in
1996. He was enlisted to serve eight
months of his millitary service in
2000. In 2002 he was appointed as
an associate professor by the Council of
Higher Education. He worked as a
lecturer at the faculty of agriculture
at Gazi Osman Paşa University between
1996-2004 and at the department of food
engineering at Afyon Kocatepe University
between 2004-2009. He was appointed to
the University of Tunceli as a professor
and the vice rector in 2009. He is still appointed as
a head of food
engineering department and the vice rector
at the University of Tunceli. Professor
Batu is married and has got three kids.
